AMP Engine vs turbo
I just unlocked the turbo engine and I like it a lot but now I also can unlock the AMP Engine. Does it drain the battery faster than gas? I'm guessing I can replace my extra fuel tanks with batteries and it would be about the same range?

eh, I would try every engine to see what you like best, I mean i will forever use the carborated engine but hey, ima still try the rest

AMP engine doesn't consume gas period. Instead it chews through battery charge.
It does run faster but given a lot of things use battery - emergency teleporter, headlights, resource radar, shock struts, limpulse emitter, ion shield, limshield, flood lights, fuel synthesizer, and smart grip tires for those who like the extra uphill support - that means you're sacrificing a lot of utility for a little extra juice for a battery engine.

If you want to give it a try, take a one/two junction course with a few battery jumpers/plasma chargers and go for a spin. Focus your build more on battery capacity and recharge like mini turbines and waterwheels. I stuck with turbolight until I got LIM chipped myself. I'd rather burn gas and have energy for utilities rather than put all the eggs in one basket.

hey, putting all your eggs in one basket can be a fun challenge

Ran through all engines before settling on LIM chipped with fuel synth and 100 battery cap. Never run out of gas unless youre in a fuel evap junction.

AMP engine is definitely an improvement over turbo but you MUST pay attention to your route planning. Time of day when you leave and when you arrive at your destination will determine what power generating devices you want to stack. I would typically take 3 sets of 2 chargers that could work in tandem with each other and a lightning rod in the trunk for early route security and opportunity charging. Lighting rod conducts all electricity (except sizzling mist) no matter where it hits your car, takes a little damage itself and charges your battery. Just be careful about stepping into the arc and for the love of god take it off when "shocking speed" is present.

Depending on weather effects and time of day I would be hot swapping my chargers (storms charge both through wind and rain).

Take plasma chargers as jumpers arent enough.

Youll find its nice not having to worry about stopping to fill up and just have to manage one resource but, boy, do you have to MANAGE it. Youll be walking a lot more and a lot further to pick up resources while you let your car charge. Youll be real strict on ability usage and find yourself driving with the lights off a LOT at night. If you happen to run out of juice while in water youre pretty well screwed as charging it seems to damage the part (engine, if you're going for the hood). Battery sapping junctions are absolute torture and if you really, truly, run out of juice, unless you can craft some jumpers out of the trunk, you're just done.

There are nice parts like the LIM converter that charges 100 battery per 1LIM but its unlocked so late you might as well just go back to gas.

Ultimately, I feel like the AMP engine is "hard" mode. You will be sweating a lot more often for a lot longer than you would just running a gas engine.

Yea I learned that part the hard way... car sped off into the forest when I was about to pump gas, into a field of electrical anomalies... so then it kept speeding off... then I had to walk 500 yards to find my car continually getting shocked while a broken bunny was making it ram itself into a tree over and over at mach ♥♥♥♥ speed. Fun times.

LOL I was absolutely positive it was a quirk related to my battery charging as I had totally forgotten about shocking speed.

personally i find that having a gas powered engine is better, especially if you wanna use the resource radar which has honestly saved me so much time on runs

Dayum, it's a pity that it isn't a hybrid engine, I was wondering why the heck my fuel doesn't drain...
