The quirk system is a wonder of game design!
In all my years of gaming, I never saw a single feature this unique.

The puzzle is clear as day. You just have to do trial and error, make mental notes, use your guesses to eliminate options, and you end up with silly behaviors like "Car leaps forward when radio toggles". It makes the car feel alive and silly.

I love it!

I mean, quirks are an interesting thing, but it's not even close to a new game design as far as how they are solved. The puzzle is based on Mastermind, a classic board game where you try to figure out the random order of arranged colors through trial and error, and each guess let's you know if something is right, right in the wrong space (The game doesn't do this one) and wrong.

The only difference here being that if you are observant of your car you get the solution without making guesses.

It's the first time I have seen this puzzle in a PC/Console Game. Brilliant original game mechanic.

I am currently driving around with 5 quirks, I don't know what any of them are. I haven't noticed any of them. Do I fix them? If I do they might be replaced with quirks that are actually annoying. If it gave me some extra kLIM or a rare mat or even progress toward a spontaneous cosmetic item there'd be more incentive to engage with the system.

I like the system. but when it's too obscure it doesn't matter.

I read somewhere that a person got up to 8 quirks, so eventually you'll be getting quirk that'll hinder you. You can toggle them off in the game setting menu if you don't want to deal with quirk or the tinker limited guessing.

I really enjoy the quirk system I've left the non damaging ones on
"when car is off ground radio toggles"
"when wipers turn left headlights go brighter"

other than that all that I run in to is "when steering for long period the right door pings open"

What funny quirks have you bumped into?

If you haven't noticed any of the quirks, then how do you know you have 5 of them?

If you notice something strange about your car that repeats itself and it causes more work in game then fix it.. If not, then don't. There is no reason to to engage with the system unless you find a reason to do so...

Your overthinking this. Maybe stay away from the Steam Forums and enjoy the game.

You can find out you have a quirk without hunting for it by toggling over screens on the tinker screens. Undiagnosed quirks are listed as something like "issue unknown"

Weird little sentence at the end telling someone to stay away from forums =/

The tinker machine tells you how many quirks there are if you move to the next screen.

Ahh, I never noticed that. Thanks and cheers..

Edit.. Actually I did notice that screen, but never knew why my resolved issue was one of 6 or 7 itemized rows of text.. Now I know that each line is an unresolved quirk.. I guess they have not been a nuisance..

The best ones are when they combine into something that REALLY drives you insane. Like the rear left door opening whenever the car was put in drive, then closing when the left front door was closed. The first few times felt like a skit in some bad screwball comedy. "Wasn't this open when I stopped the car? Oh, never mind." *clunk* "The hell?" *clunk* "... I'll just keep driving."
