¿Can you make the electric engine actually worth?
I'm trying to make the electric engine work by putting any mods into energy related management. I'm completlely baffled to find out the engine drains so fast the battery not even with plasma rechargers full inventory and energy mods to recharge this thing will ever work considering the average trip after reaching 2º wall is like 30 minutes IRL.

Quite disappointed because the idle engine doesn't consume energy and really liked that feature so I could save that energy when getting in and out fast for some resource collecting.

Must add I haven't unlocked the anchor energy converter thing that MAY be the ultimate solution to this. Still the only thing being viable for this setup being the last to unlock while everything else seems useless make the engine a late game thing, not to mention you'll eventually unlock the LIM chip engine at that point.

Simple answer imo is no you can't. I think there's such a potential abundance of fuel around that with an additional fuel tank and fuel can you've got plenty in reserve so you arent caught out. There aren't the same options for batteries unless you can find lightening, wind, water to sit around in while it recharges.
Maybe you can get lucky and get a quirk that charges the battery when you drive

With two wind turbines, you can stall or even regen power as you move. With a rain collector you'll charge more than you burn as you drive. Instead of fuel cans, pack a few jump starters and a plasma rod. Should be more then enough to handle your needs.

Though definitely I agree, they could afford to tone it down a bit.

You can make it usable, if you dont want to spend much resources then just put on 4 wind turbines, which balance the usage while driving fast, and instead of the fuel tanks put 2 big backseat batteries and 1 or 2 roof batteries. This will give you either 225 battery points or with 2 roof batteries this will give you 300 battery points, which is enough for a long trip.

What i feel is sorely needed is some kind of upgrade that changes the fuel tank to a battery.
Because what's the point of a fuel tank when it's electric? I also think reducing the power use a bit would help since with just the main battery you'll barely get a mile and requiring massive compromises to make it usable. with the other engines You could use the fuel synthesizer with 2 turbines and a water collector and a single backseat battery leaving both roof slots and a seat slot meaning you can have the resource scanner and a roof storage. With the fuel synth you really don't need to search for fuel and can use the gas pumps when they are convenient,

AMP engine in isolation is pretty good

Issue is generating more power for your reserves. If you get a quirk that gets you more power I say you can start to make it pretty good

I do runs into the deep zone with the electric engine and only needed to manually recharge it once when I wasn't paying enough attention to what the maps had for events. I've got 3 turbines and a raincatcher, have a solar panel in roof storage for daytime maps but don't really use it much. Just with the backseat batteries and the default one I've been doing fine, recently got the roof one but it seems like overkill.

Definitely useable, wouldn't say its better than gas powered since gas is everywhere but I like that I can go as far as I want without ever stopping to refuel.

I have been using the AMP engine with 2 solar panels and two mini turbines. I also keep two hydro generators in the trunk and swap the solar panels out for those when it rains. I have two high-capacity batteries in the back seat so that I have a large pool of starting energy. The two mini-turbines alone offset the cost of the engine when travelling at top speed. With this setup I can go for pretty long trips and only have to charge up the battery with a plasma charger once or twice.

I would love to upgrade to a LIM-chipped engine but those Olympium fragments are just so damn rare.
