How to pick up tires?

Im trying to pick up spare tires around the world but i have no prompts on how to do this?
I emptied my inventory so thats not the issue, have nothing in my hands, but all i can do is kick the tires. What am i missing here?

If the tires are still attached to the car. You need tools to remove parts.

Having an air gun like in the garage wont work.

Specifically, look for the "Liberator" tool in the research computer. It's the only way to remove parts attached to other vehicles.

there are no spare tires. there are player crafted wheels and there are wheels taken from wrecks with a tool. when you change wheels on the car, you take the entire rim off. Never do you just change a tire.

If you see tires in the environment that you can bump around, that's simply trash.

there is a game condition where something can happen that will make random items appear near the player and sometimes those random items are player crafted tires, but like all other parts in the game you will see the part name and health bar and they will glow slightly like all the loot in the game does

No there's an actual item called a Spare Wheel. It's the worst option but it does exist

animal_PLANET is most correct. If attached to a non player vehicle a liberator will be required to explode that part off(spare tire seriously not worth it, i don't think any tire is). Any tire found in the wild can be picked up. (Right bumper controller), your car, "Y" to remove.

A spare wheel is still a 'player crafted item' if you try and dismantle it. It is still the entire rim/wheel. you may find one inside a storage container, but never laying around
