You can create several of the pneumatic lockers, so there could be a limit somewhere.
You can also put parts there, which... Makes parts lockers a little moot?
yes.
as one is infinite, who spend money building 4 times something that is enough if you have one ?
So, when you build all 4 of them, you do not get 4 different infinite storage units, but instead one but you have 4 different spots from where to access it.
They're separate lockers
Though it does help with organizing
There is an achievement for unlocking all of the things
You'd be overwhelmed by the crafting materials, whereby every run, you either need to dump them all (not bing back anything) or when in garage, dump the rest to the groud. And while items on garage ground do remain between runs, your garage will be filled with those. That, eventually, leads game crashing.
But to make it more realistic for you, you don't have to build pneumo lockers. Just use regular ones. Or when you have them, don't use them. Dump everything on the ground and live in a dump.
things get more and more expensive as you go through the game? Or the late game items require a lot of early game materials.
Just don't use the pneumatic lockers in your singleplayer game, if you think it makes the experience cheap.
Also, it depends on difficulty level and your planning. If you mess up your car often, you will have to spend more resources to fix it. Same is when you don't plan the route and drive into unstable junction with active storm in it.
In every game where there are crafting materials that can be collected, there are always some, sloppy ones, to whom the found amount isn't enough to sustain themselves. And then there are those, frugal ones, who find crafting materials to be in excess surplus.
