Clothing/Outfits, how do they work?

So I see I can build outfits, eg lead-lined apron. But I don't see where it equips. More puzzling, the description says the outfit itself can be upgraded with more mats. But I don't see any UI or anything for this. And what happens when I get the upgraded clothing? Does it replace the old? Stack on? Very confused by this.

Once you built it, it is automatically equipped.

Yeah I was confused about this too. Once you craft it, you'll just wear it automatically, nothing you need to do in your inventory to equip it. Same goes for multiple pieces worn on the same body piece, like a jacket for shock resist won't replace your jacket for acid resist if you crafted that first. Crafting the next tier of clothing just replaces the old one.

is there anyway to see my resistances? Do two resists of the same type stack or do they replace?

You have to access the station. The station tells you what you have on you and the resistance in percentage. Outside the station you cannot see.
