Matter regeneration does the same thing essentially, but it takes more time and it needs you to have 2nd set of parts, since it repairs stuff when you're out on the run.
Btw, Repair Putty is so easy to craft.
The problem with that is that it's *INSANELY BORNIG*. Loot n scoot crafting BS is tedious as hell. I got the game to *drive* and enjoy the atmosphere, not play Minecraft with a car.
You have to spend resources after a successful diagnosis to remove a quirk
I got a quirk that's been with my car for AWHILE where the headlights are brighter when the wipers are off
It shows up in the Tinker Station as Diagnosed but I just haven't removed it
Then play something else? That's literally the whole gameplay loop, what you're saying is you don't like the game. Who are you to barge in here and demand changes like that just because you don't want to actually play the game.
If you want to drive and enjoy the atmosphere, play something else. E.g American Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator 2. Pacific Drive is all about collecting resources, surviving anomalies and maintaining your car.
I see it a lot in Project Zomboid where people ask where Sprinters are despite playing on the "hardest" difficulty and then realize they have to customize their own custom difficulty to actually get the hardest difficulty
