Can't put car in drive

I'm having issues putting the car in Drive and Park. Sometimes it engages, most times it doesn't. Been stuck for 5 minutes shifting from Park ----> Drive (reverse). Any help? Also, game needs MAJOR optimization.

It's not a proper fix, but you can set the "Easy Shifter" option in the Gameplay > Realism settings. That will get rid of the problem even if it does not fix the issue itself.

I'm in the very beginning and can't set the gear lever to Drive, and I'm holding the key "E" (playing on PC) but it doesn't work.

I also had this problem on Steam Deck. Even holding the button, the "hold button" meter would fill up and the shifter would change from park to drive or vice versa, but then immediately snap back, even if I didn't let go of the button.

The "easy shifter" realism option works as a temporary fix, but I rather liked having to hold the button. I hope the devs acknowledge this bug and fix it.

I had this problem too but it was actually because my frames were too low, I played the demo on my old pc and it was running at 5 fps, everytime I moved the shifter it would always go back, until I just paused the game, unpaused it and immediately moved the shifter. This seems to allow my gear stick to have a chance of shifting or going back. Now that I am on a faster pc, I never experienced this again.

I’m having this issue on Steam Deck: I hold RB to put the car into Drive, the lever moves back as the bar fills, at full the lever goes back to the Park position and the bar empties.

This may have been your issues but I'm running on a steam deck which handles much higher end triple a title's fine sooo....
