Do you have post processing on high or ultra? Dropping it to below high makes everything extremely dark.

I have everything on ultra and it still looks too dark indoors. I guess it's to force you to make use of the road flares, but it looks like the lighting is just completely broken.

Seems fine to me and that's while using an OLED TV with all that black contrast goodness. I mean, it's dark in spots and shadows and all but I can see what I'm supposed to see just fine. Edit: maybe I'm just used to dark in games since I prefer it vs. overbright.

Have you tried altering settings on your actual monitor (assuming not a TV) vs. in-game settings - assuming your monitor lets you change anything. Used to be they mostly all did - both my IPS monitors have buttons and OSD menus for changing color/brightness etc - but these days maybe some displays don't think it's a feature to be included. :steammocking:

I have a calibrated OLED but that's beside the point.

Interiors are literally pitch black: https://i.imgur.com/hI8p9wk.png

Even though it's perfectly bright outside and there's three huge windows + the open door letting light in:

It's like there's ZERO light bounce at all in these black-hole pretending interiors.

Same issue, had to pump brightness a ton (wich I don't like to do) just to see while in shadow or inside buildings with open windows in bright daylight.

Funny, for me the brightness settings seemed to not work at all. And yes, the default value seems to dark in shades/interiors.

I've noticed there doesn't seem to be any HDR (as in the older software kind, not luminance in displays kind) or any simulated eye adaptation in the game. I'm guessing it's a deliberate design/artistic choice and I don't mind dark games, myself, but it does seem like an unusual choice, since most other games use some form of it.

if there is a game that needed some ray traced or probe or what ever bounce light its this

i relanuched the game first time in a while, and man, the interiors as completely black, you need to drop shadows from high to medium to see anything

If you have an Nvidia gpu with geforce experience installed, when in-game, press Alt+F3, add filter-> brightness. then adjust the shadow slider.
