Because I know for a fact once you go 144hz, you CANNOT GO BACK
So I simply blissfully live in my 60fps world. I can't miss something if I don't know it in the first place! And my hardware is perfect for exactly that. 60fps 1080p
Intel i7-7700K CPU
16 GB RAM
It seems that no matter what settings I set it at, I can't get the demo to keep at 60 fps at 2560x1440. The best I got it was at 60 fps at the start of the demo, which fell lower as the demo went on, dipping below 40 before I gave up. Considering the art style the game is going for isn't a super realistic one, I'm very surprised at how poorly the demo runs. The worst part was changing "effects" from high to medium basically removed all the weather effects like rain on the windshield, which really ruined the atmosphere the game was going for I think.
I was also monitoring my CPU and GPU while playing the demo and neither one was particularly high in utilization either. My CPU hovered at about 35% and my GPU never went over 10%.
But there is the usual Unreal Engine stutters that are very very anoying, there are some shader pre comp during loadings cause I see my CPU skyrocket but there is some missing ones becuase yeh UE pre shader comp always misses some.

FPS is all over the map, going from 120fps down to 40-50's is very jarring... and this is with DLSS.
Once you get into the first main area after the intro, FPS tanks. Shadows seem to be the main culprit, but performance still wildly fluctuates. Hopefully they can optimize further.
I sure hope performance is improved at launch.

these are right smack dab in the middle of the requirements, sorta, and yet the game was running at maybe 30-35 fps on MEDIUM the moment i started my first run. earlier it was running at over 60 in the garage with high, dunno what caused it to crap itself like that
I tried this on my configuration - It didn't get any better:/

Can barely keep on 60 fps with settings on medium
Game runs at around 35-45 FPS on default settings, around 50-70 FPS on low settings.
Pacific Drive runs with under 30fps @ medium settings
144hz makes me nauseous, personally. i'm much happier with something much lower.
on my deck, when i'm able to get a stable 40 fps, i set it for 40hz. failing that, 60hz with 30 fps.
YAWN.
