Can I just Turn Fashion Bear Off?
I enjoy this game a lot but I really just don't like the fashionista bear that just shows up on my island every week to tell me I'm ugly and to dress to her standards of fashion. I like my outfit, thanks. I'm just outright skipping her completely when she shows up on my island. Would rather she didnt visit at all.

you can let her talk and just buy wigs if you like. That way you can change your hair without losing the current do. I don't know of any way to turn her off other than to just not click on her. When the Devs introduced her they indicated that she isn't an actual part of the Cozy Grove destinly so we could choose not to interact with her.

I have a bit of anxiety with fashonista type people regularly telling me I look awful so its pretty upsetting to have a random character show up JUST to tell me I look awful and she knows better than me about how I should look. I just have an immediate deep sense of dread every time she shows up and I just turn the game off and wait until tomorrow.

If she isnt important to the story in any way, can the game be modded maybe to just turn off her visits? A 'false' setting in an ini file somewhere?

Could create problem later in life, should fix this in real life. Just ignore her.

Yeah, its pretty wild how I just really enjoy the storytelling and mechanics but I'm not very interested in changing my character appearance constantly. It fascinates me how this has actually bothers other people in online game communities to the point that I have had people stalk me and try to force me to accept their ideal outfit or version of fashion for whatever character I'm playing at the time. I constantly have to look over my shoulder just for wearing basic leveling armor in case RNGesus decided to give me something red out of season or something. "Endgame is Fashion" is a pretty terrifying concept when you get attacked for it all the time.

And the NPC is acting like my fashion stalkers and it freaks me out.

I just wanted to turn her off. Sorry it bothered y'all so much.

I do not think that your comment bothered anybody, you have nothing to apologize for. :)

I don't want to dredge up anything you do not want to talk about, but can I ask just what game/community has people like that? Granted, I know there are fringe bad actors everywhere, I've never heard of griefers that specific.

It has primarily happened in Mabinogi, but I have encountered the behavior in FF14 as well. Both games fostered the "Fashion is everything" behaviors that I desperately try to avoid but every now and then someone just gets it in their craw that they MUST adjust my outfit and become very obsessive compulsive about it. In one incident, I simply added a green metal dye to an armor I liked the shape of and someone spent months hunting me down any time I was out of a dungeon in the cities. I got into the habit of logging out in remote locations and bypassing major social areas to not deal with those people. Its a waste of everyone's time.

After some though, I realized that the fashion bear mostly bothers me because she just spawns right beside the starter camp so her quest is the first alert I see when I load in. She'd be easier to ignore if it wasn't right there. Can I move my camp to the other plots? I havn't tried yet.

Huh. On one hand, that fits every part of the bad MMO stereotypes that have me heavily avoiding multiplayer focused experiences, but even then it still seems like a really weird thing for them to obsess over. Anyway, the only other thing I will say on this is, if it is not already obvious, the problem is them and not you.

As for moving our tent, that is a very good question. I have not seen a way to do it yet, but I would like to be able to move around the map.

ps, I ran out of stuff to do for a while and started buying clothes that my little scout will never wear. She's permanently in a sundress and has her hair in pretty braids. lol

For me Darla O'Hare basically is who she is. Yes, she has her own opinions on fashion and based on how she dresses you up (for fun) I question her fashion sense... but she's entitles to it and I just dress however I like. Whether I'm a dressed today in a traditional Spirit Scout uniform, or tomorrow I'm wearing purple clothes, fantasy-style wig, and stuffed pig on my head... just do whatever you want to do to have fun.

Now, I have to check my Closet. Do I have a brown bob-haircut wig, orange sweater, and glasses I'll need for tomorrow's "Dress Like Velma Dinkley" Day?

I look at it as being more friendly. If your friend wanted to be a designer and wanted to use you as a canvas to learn, would you help them, even if not your sense of style. She just wants to see you in it for a second then you take it off, though taking the clothes on and off is a minor annoyance.

I actually had a friend that was into fashion design. I wasn't into her ideas but we never trashed each others dress or art. But you have to set boundaries even with friends. Tell them you're not okay with it and if they don't respect that they aren't friends and don't interact with them.

In the game's case you can just respect your own boundaries and not talk to her or try to look at it from another angle, like doing someone a favor or what might work for you, and move on feeling better about it.

I know being told to think about it differently sounds trite but it works. I was having a hard time with my town being threatened by a close fire this season. I did manage to get a different take on it in my mind(kinda personal though) and help myself cope with it better.

She made me wear a hat, thick veil and winter scarf today even though it's blazing hot :2016imnotcrying:
At least she got a seashell in her shoe so there is some justice in the world after all :flamey_happy:
