Land not coloring glitch?

I did the quest today for the mail bear and the color and coin "explosions" didn't happen. The land stayed grey. I thought it might be a glitch so I restarted the game and the area was properly colorful. Just thought I'd report this. The glitch might have happened because I tried to move right when the color explosion was meant to happen. Maybe I interrupted it or something.
