Can't place interior decoration inside tent

I have a vintage windowsill garden that says it is an interior decoration, but the only option inside is to hold it in my hand. Is there something I'm missing?

If the item is on the wall, at this time you can't have anything on the floor where the item will be.. Not sure if this might be your situation.

I only have a couple of things in my house atm, both of which were already there. There is empty wall so I assume the window would go there. Not sure what is wrong :/

I'm curious. Have you tried putting it on the exterior wall?

I also have the same issue, anyone figure out the problem? I wonder if you have to upgrade your tent to a certain point?

I read on Discord that people on Switch are having similar issues that is resolved by "throwing" the item. I have no idea. I'm going to share this thread anyway because if you guys are all on PC then you're problem is different as it would be for me if I had it. While I do this, are you guys putting the window box on exterior walls?

windows need to be placed next to a wall otherwise they would look weird mid-air, some items are wall items (you can tell because they will look grey outside the tent as they can only be placed inside)

if you drag or aim to throw near a wall, the grid will show up there, only in areas next to the two visible door, it doesn't show anywhere else

word of advice, the windows or kitchens or similar sometimes take a few spaces since they can be wide items, although they are narrow"

Thank you for sharing this! That is exactly it. I was able to place the window. I wish the game had explained this.
