Does the Ancient lamp stay on without a light source next to it?

I remember when I started playing the game in april, it definitely needed a light source. Now I wanted to change the other lamps and when I picked them up, the ancient lamp stayed lit. Is this a new feature or it is just bugged?

it's not really a bug: it needs a light source close to it to get lit, but once lit, as its radius is quite large, it can stay lit if you take back the closest light sources.

If you disconnect then come back, it should be off, though.
