There was always a wall blocking me from unlocking something that would require me to unlock/find something that was behind some other wall, ad infinitum in circular loops.
I had no problem when I played the earlier versions of this game and beat it and did everything smoothly and with zero issues other than the accumulator bug that everyone defended and argued against me about, including the devs, until I finally proved it and they had to dig pretty hard into the game's script to fix it. And then all of the sudden everyone agreed with me as if it was obvious all along as an annoying bug.
For example, I want to get to marker 'EB' which requires mining charges which require Victor to be leveled up further which requires plant matter frames which require assemblers which require Victor to be upgraded further and assembler fragments (which are nowhere to be found)
It's just an absolute mess right now and I am 100% certain that no one playing an up to date version of this game is having any fun or making any progress.
Your problem is you are use to the old way.
Also I didn't bother unlocking the core composer that early in the game, anyway because the game gave you one in the chest at Victor...
Lima is Largely unchanged, but they move the Faster Inserters to the Warehouse.
If you follow what the game is telling you to do it will lead you to where you need to go.
1st It needs Kindlevine Stems, which to means you need Planters and Thresher, and the game leads you right there to them. Upgrade Victor once and it leads you to the Water Wheels, Assemblers and free Core Compose... At some point it leads you to X-ray and if you go do the steps there is another Free Composer.
You didn't even get the part I didn't like about the update, splitting the upgrades between X-ray and Victor... while you can completely ignore X-ray to Complete the story, but you have to Repair Xray to access the the run speed and tool bar upgrades
This is where the game's, new smoother start ends.
They really needed to do this for the new Blast Machines, as they need Mining charges as fuel.

This did not happen. I was never sent to that area. I found it after searching around on my own. But I was never sent to it whatsoever. All the earlier stuff you said was true but no, I was never sent to the base with the water wheels at all. And the fact that I wasn't sent there is what absolutely and completely destroyed the otherwise smooth flow of the game.
Recipe has changed
Spark does say go Exploring After Upgrading Victor, but it gives you a Task for ((HA)) which is Building Mining drills and Smelter (8 each), complete this task and it leads you
right there.

Also they move Plant Frames to the final tier of Lima

You really need to take a close look at the tech tree, It has changed a lot, some for the better (Mostly better) some for the worse (Doing X-ray in tandem with Victor for Upgrades)
Your the same person who thought that the core composer had been removed, because it got moved in the tech tree right?
It's very hard to miss the required techs, The ones that arn't in a room you get a signal for when you follow the journel quests (which admitably, don't auto-add anymore), are on the main river. You have to do bare minimal exploring for the important stuff.
The things that trigger signals like placing power floors e.t.c. not auto-adding to the task list miiight not be the best change in retrospect.
probably needs a like, automatic-priority on what to show, so that the things that lead to blueprints/story are listed above doors e.t.c.
Yes you're right. I somehow untracked that objective. If I'd had that up I'd have had next to no problems with progression.
Good to know.
Overall I guess the new player introduction curve/progression is pretty smooth and I just got unlucky with a few things simultaneously. (this happens to me a lot in games because I have a very stress testy way of playing games)
Also I You have to scan, I believe, three Assemblers to unlock the tech, so if you did stumble onto one, you will still need 1 or 2 more.
