Threshing slab-scale items?

I read on some portion of a wiki that the more complex bulk items (Copper Mechanism my current attempt) can be threshed into the smaller ingredients (Copper components) but I have yet to ever get it to work, regardless of what my tech level is

Am I missing the stage where they become thus, or was the detail on whatever item I looked up a lie? It would honestly make me very happy if it were that they could be threshed, and give me greater incentive to build a proper mind factory; there's really not much worth in doing so IMO, unless the chunks/slabs promise to give a greater efficiency and profit from usage.

Yes there is a something on the tech tree thst let's you thresh slabs I to bars. I believe there are a couple. Each allowing different materials to be threshed.

I made a copper mechanism and want to thresh it into components
Though on a separate save right now, I maxed the tech trees on my previous play and never saw a tech for threshing them, but the "official" wiki (as far as I can tell) claims these items can be threshed into their lesser bits.
The one I actually saw it on and the one that bugged me the most is the Electrical Set. If I could break it down into 100 electrical components it would make my life ingame substantially better, but even with as far as I understood it all threshing tech unlocked on that other save, trying to put them into a thresher just makes the system mad as it refuses to do so.
