Clay?

I could swear I read that there are mineable clay deposits in the game, but I've never so much as suspected something might be it.
Am I missing something?

I’ve not seen like an ore node but you get clay sometimes while digging with the MOLE, but not a reliable source of it. But you end up with enough plant matter from shiverthorn threshing it doesn’t matter.
If you don’t know plant matter —> dirt —> clay — ceramic parts
Parts can be made into tiles or gravel

I get clay from blast mining atlantium chunks, and then threshing them, however I have the same problem - it appears that x-ray needs ceramics to give you the recipe for clay, which is odd as ceramics I presume are made from clay. I can't make ceramics and clay does nothing in any of the machines for me - I am also stuck.

You unlock that in tier 3 of X-ray, you don't need clay before that.

Terminal XRay 1 = 200x Copper Ore, 200x Iron Ore
Terminal XRay 2 = 200x Cement, 200x Steel Ingot, 200x Mining Charge
Terminal XRay 3 = 200x Iron Chunk, 200x Copper Chunk, 200x Concrete
