Poor performance in linux/proton

I have a 6800xt and cant get a good consistent frame rate in this game regardless of the resolution I play at. I know this is early access but Most games I play at 1440 or 4k resolutions with from rates @ 120 but this game im lucky to get 40-70 most of the time.

If I lower the resolution or graphics settings it doesn't seem to make a bit of difference. Going from 4k to 1440 I notice gpu usage drops to about %50 but frame rates dont improve.

Any suggestions? please dont say use windows. That is not, nor will it ever be an option.

The game needs optimization
Now I'm on Windows 11,
Ryzen 7 5800x, RTX 4070 ti, 32gb 3600 mhz DDR4 ram
Play on at Samsung Odyssey G9 (49" 240hz, not the OLED) @5120x1440 32:9
FPS 45 to 50 fps... with dips to 15 fps when using the mole at 12x12 Tunnel.
If I drop the rez to 2560x1440 16:9 I get 70 to 80 fps with dips to 30 fps.
In Satisfactory I get 110 FPS @5120x1440

Yeah no, this game runs terribly, even in windows

Can't push more than 40fps on my old 1080ti... Steam deck is a slide show for me lol

Yeah trying to play this on the deck is not a good idea... 15 fps off the jump.

Don't build a huge factory, LoL. It gets worse. I normally get a bouncy 72 FPS with nothing built. When we had a fully functional factory it dropped to 19.

As someone who started building a large mall on my PC and then switched to my steam deck, this game is unplayable on my steam deck.

Sorry to necro this thread. Anyone have it working on an AMD card with Proton experimental? What magic sauce are you guy spreading on this bun? TIA

As mentioned in my original post I am using a 6800xt which is an AMD card. Honestly i havent had to anything to get it to run. It runs with 0 issues or crashes but performance was lacking

Thanks. I bought the 7800 and only a few token games run on it... except one game from a competitor. With that said, most cheesy games run just fine, but they are just VNs.

Make sure you have all of the required stuff installed. Here is the steam arch wiki. Even if youre not using arch linux is a good resource pointing out what needs to be done for a good gaming experience, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Steam#Proton_Steam-Play
