Trouble Placing Monorail Tracks

Not sure what I am doing wrong. I have the station. I am starting from the station and the track is blue and when i click to build i get a little noise to indicate "NO" but no indication why or what i am doing wrong. I CAN build a track when I connect two stations that are next to eachother but no other way.

the way i did it was seeing how far out it would let the track go, then swapping to the pole and placing it on that spot, then connecting the track from the station to the pole

pulling out the track from the pole seems to work as you would expect, placing poles automatically. only the station itself seemed a bit wonky

I did not see the pole option. That did it. I started from the pole not the station and was able to build no issue

Just to note, you need poles as well as the track in your inventory for you to place the track.
Sounds like you didn't make any poles to begin with, maybe.

Thats what it was for sure. There was no indication that is what i was missing. I didnt even notice in the build menu cus they look like lights
