GPU temperature problem

Hi,
my specs: CPU - Intel 9700K, GPU - RTX 2080, 16 GB RAM, up to date drivers, game is limited to max 60 fps from nvidia control panel (other options untouched)

my problem is that after a minute gameplay my GPU utilization 90+ % and my GPU memory usage goes 90+% non stop, GPU temp is ~70 C, but hotspot goes to 100 C (I think because the non stop memory usage)

game runs smooth despite all of the above, I could not test much as after a few mins I start sweating, my pc is right beside me

I can run Cyberpunk almost max settings RTX on on this PC without this kind of heat, its ~60 C / hotspot ~80 C on every other game I play

Anyone else with this kind of problem?

forgot to mention, it does this on max settings AND on minimum settings too, all turned down everything low or off.

got some player.log rows that are repeating with slight number variations, failed allocations seems suspicious

I second this, my 3080 is in the red playing this game. If anybody has a work around let me know, otherwise I'll probably refund it until it's better optimized.

Gonna pass this along to the tech team! There are some workarounds in various Steam threads, but we have some patches incoming that might help.

GPU usage 99%
GPU temp 60c / Core temp 78c

I suggest you clean your fans, case, reapply thermal paste, adjust your fan settings.

I agree with OP, Max 144HZ and Min 60HZ uses 100% GPU all the same and heats up like crazy.

My case also has good airflow and was cleaned recently. There is probably some asset that tanks GPU way too much.

Im running at 4K widescreen but Ive cranked the FPS all the way down to 30 fps (its not first person shooter it doesnt need 60+ :p) in nvidia control panel to reduce temps. Even at that it runs ~50-70% gpu load on a 2080 super. It varies a lot depending on where you are and where youre looking (eg standing in a waterfall maxes out the gpu).

Looks like the common link so far is nVidia. Lots of games have this issue where one manufacturer tanks and the other operates fine. Hopefully they're able to identify a cause.

Hi ChiliP (get shorty ref?), this is definitely not what I'd expect to be happening on your hardware; trying to see if I can figure out what's up. You mentioned changing all your in-game settings; can you just confirm for me that none of them seem to have a noticeable effect?

I did some test.
Idle temps 36 C / 46 hotspot in windows.
I changed graphics in the menu to low, and then after a few mins of play it went up to 70 C / 90 C.
What I did not see on HWMonitor this time is the high memory usage on low, GPU utilization was around 70% with a few 80 spike. (I plan to buy 2 more fans to my PC case this week, maybe it will help somewhat) I play on 2560 x 1440 with a 2 monitor setup.

After that I exited the game, then started up again, turned everything to max. Within 15 sec it went up to 70 C / 90 C, GPU utilization between 80 - 99%, Memory usage 80 - 89%.

i have similar problems with 3060ti, game squeezes all the juices out of her on any settings, i hope you fixed this soon

This isn't a fan issue. I have all of my fans speeds calibrated above the recommended gpu usage/temp ratios and I'm still running in the very high temp ranges. But only on this game.
