-Everything is on a grid. Despite the nice looking smooth terrain, you end up flattening everything and all your buildings end up grid aligned with cardinal rotations. No problem getting things to align. If this is a pro or con depends on your tastes.
-Getting stuff on/off belts requires inserters. Again this is a matter of tastes (there is a discussion thread where half of the people think that it is stupid, the other half are grateful). Either way how you end up building your factories ends up very different.
Other people may disagree or talk about the story, but to me, those are the two biggest things differentiating it from Satisfactory when it comes to the game play.
Things that stand out for me:
Ease of building, it's so nice. There's some annoyances, like I can't put buildings right next to each other but overall it feels like a massive step up when placing stairs and floors.
No massive buildings, yea this game has big buildings but they aren't massively annoyingly big like most of satisfactory. Smaller buildings means I spend less time running around.
Storyline, it's kind of enjoyable and adds a bit to it.
Powered floors are nicer than Satisfactory's power poles. Factorio made decent use of power poles, Satisfactory's is just an annoyance.
The Research tree is interesting, I like the need to produce the research cubes and placing them as a building rather than researching them in a structure is interesting.
Terrain modification. I hated not being able to modify the terrain in Satisfactory. If you're going to give me a 3d map, let me modify the terrain.
IMO this game has a ways to go before I would consider it to be great, but overall where Satisfactory when released felt like they didn't put much effort into the game whereas this game felt like a really well made game even if it's missing some things. A good early access release.
Seems you have taken the "bait" mmmm loser.
lol
Anyway, thanks everyone. The fact it's on a grid and flattens out is already enough to make me enjoy it a bit more probably.
Because its not a copy , Its the same type of game but far from a copy
I personally really like games where I can dig and shape the terrain the way I want. :)
Also, in Satisfactory you don't have an emphasis on the story (actually you don't even have any story yet), resource nodes are infinite and IMO boring, and having a single space elevator to put all mats into is also boring IMO. I think it has a quite static gameplay because of these factors.
Obviously Satisfactory is a great game nevertheless, it has plenty of polish and lots of features, but it has its own set of characteristics and limitations, not to mention that its development is like molasses these days; probably their team is already burned out and bored with the project.
How it plays and how it can and can't compare to Satisfactory is another story.
