Infinite Resources
What's your opinion on resource depletion in games like this? Personally even in Factorio i increase ore density as much as possible because moving and replacing old bases is pretty annoying. I would hope at least for some kind of option like this when the game releases.

I consider the "limited resources" part of the challenge. If one automates production via use of machines in the BASE game, you then stretch how far those resources go, vs. producing it in your Inventory. I also like the limited weight that one can carry, with upgrades that increase that capacity. I'm currently working on Tier 5, I believe and just need to find a few items to be able to create certain critical components (looking for the final Blue Core to be able to build them). It's ALMOST a catch-22 in that you need explosives to get Atlantium(?), but the explosives are behind a locked door. Just gotta wait for the Electronic Components to build out...

Satisfactory is designed for infinite, not Factorio, even with mod, this is bad because its breakin game.
I will play more techtonica i cannot answer for now about this game itself.

There's a mod for Factorio for infinite ores. I use it. I hate the idea of running out of something and having to redesign parts of my factory.

Until this has infinite ores or a mod I'll give it a miss.

It would take about 3-5k hours with 5k upgraded mining drills to use all the ore in the existing map! And future updates will add more.. so you should be good now!

We do have a community of modders already working on the game in our Discord, if you want to talk to them about it. Hope this helps!

This doesn't address the peeve you quoted though. Although the map might almost never run out of resources, the individual resource 'nodes' will, thus requiring redesign of the base.

As I said above, we're also considering adding a sandbox mode where they don't disappear! We totally hear you on this. Want to make sure everyone is able to play the way they want to!

Sandbox mode is ok, but make it tweakable, IE able to keep building and tech costs turned on.

If the only way to get infinite resources is a sandbox mode that makes everything free or instantly unlocked like most sandbox modes then that'd be kinda dull.

Grounded has a good custom game design where you can toggle most aspects of the game so you can tailor it for the experience you want.

We are considering a sandbox option like this!

I think 3-5k hours is a good amount and no infinite would be necessary with that much already. Don't let the babies rule the world. And like what was already pointed out you will be moving further away from those earlier points and thus moving your drills/smelters anyway just for mere convenience. I've only been playing less than 24 hrs but so far I like the game, don't understand the research part so much yet

I think having to move drills in the first place is unnecessary tedium.
