well for one thing satisfactory doesn't have terraforming and it takes place above ground (for the most part.) I have over 1800 hours playing satisfactory yet I still enjoyed playing the TT demo and will buy it as soon as EA drops.

That isn't terraforming, that's adding structures.

The demo is free. If you are actually curious (and not just trolling) then just try it out.

what appealed this game to my wife and myself was that we were fans of subnautica and the similarities were what made us excited to try this demo. We were never drawn to satisfactory so we are having fun figuring out the conveyor belts and automation aspect. Just because there is one iconic game in a genre doesn't mean other games don't have anything to contribute and it may be those differences that are more appealing to different people. This game is going into our definitely buying list.

It's either assume you are trolling, or assume you are wholly unaware of how to communicate effectively. The questions you've asked are poorly formed, and indicate that you have no interest in the game. Hence, I assume a troll.

The game plays nothing like Satisfactory (nowhere near as fiddly with placement, for one). The primary similarities between this and Satisfactory are the genre, and the perspective. The setting and the feel are completely different, in addition to deformable terrain being a BIG departure from most entries in the genre (FortressCraft Evolved, and Foundry being the only two that I know of with deformable terrain).

Again, the demo is free. If you can't sink an hour into a free demo then why even ask the question? It's good. If you are actually interested, just give it a go.

Astro Colony has terrafoming too. They have a free demo on Steam and EA is dropping on Nov. 7th Well worth a try imo.

Thanks for the recommendation! Haven't seen that one yet. I'll have to check it out this evening.

If you think the question is poorly formed, you must be too stupid to understand simple notions. As someone who has never played satisfactory and is now enjoying this demo, I asked myself the exact same thing.

Why would I play this over a game that has plenty of content out already but SEEMS to be the same thing just re-skinned. Your answer is worse than the question because the first response you gave is "I'm an @ss" which didn't give any info on the question and you simply just say troll harder, as if you feel everyone's out to get you and rile you up.

Then your second answer just states in one line out of 3 paragraphs that this game has a different setting and feel. What does "feel" mean? You "feel" like its a different game? Setting? You mean the theme and the looks? Is the answer to the original question just "this game looks different so play it"? again other than looks, no one has pointed out anything different between the two game except for the alarmingly obvious lack of content.

I am genuine curious too, what does this game have to offer other than the story, and the looks, compared to satisfactory. I personally enjoy this aesthetic more, and the story is interesting, because I don't even know if satisfactory has a story, but if this is just "satisfactory lite: Bio-luminescence underground" then I don't see why I wouldn't just play the other.

Feel is also subjective, not objective. To some, all shooters feel the same, to others, there's massive difference between one or another.

Agreed.

Satisfactory does not ->yet<0 has a story. its also a work in progress. But it have many hours of gameplay and you are almost never done.. there is so much content allready and the devs are realy active and interact with the community. so when i see this game and when i looked at youtubers who played this demo ... i see the same game only in the begin tiers of EA.

Feel could be taken to include setting, but since I listed them separately I don't mean it in that sense. I mean that the gameplay physically feels different. The controls feel different, player physics are different, the interaction of machines between themselves, loaders, and conveyors is very different from Satisfactory. Loaders can interact directly between two machines, so it's closer to Factorio or Dyson Sphere Program. Satisfactory has specific input and output connectors for conveyors or pipes, which makes all machines unidirectional. This informs how one must build their factories, and can make for vastly different design. Satisfactory also places a heavy emphasis on player made architecture, and that just doesn't (currently) exist in Techtonica.

Aside from that, the biggest differences would be the deformable terrain, and the story line. With Satisfactory you are stuck with having to build around massive formations and slopes. Being able to shape the terrain is a huge difference. Satisfactory doesn't currently have a story, and we don't know exactly what it will look like yet. I'm guessing it will be more like uncovering lore, as Coffee Stain have stated that the story will be completely optional. In Techtonica, it seems like the story progresses as new stations are unlocked, making it a core part of the experience. Personally, I like this, as most games in the genre don't really have a story.

As far as lacking content, this is a free demo for a game that hasn't even entered early access. If you want a (nearly) completed game then Satisfactory would obviously be a better choice than a demo. Satisfactory is a great game. If Techtonica were currently available for purchase then it might be a more salient point.
