You do know different indie studios make these games Riot Forge publishes right?
Ruined King was developed by Airship Syndicate (makers of Battle Chasers), Convergence is being made by Double Stallion (makers of Speed Brawl), Hextech Mayhem was made by Choice Provisions (makers of Bit.Trip Runner and much more, some of which under the name Gaijin Games), Song of Nunu is being made by Tequila Works (makers of The Sexy Brutale), and The Mageseeker is being made by Digital Sun (makers of Moonlighter)
→Coming back to edit this 2 week late to say I'm sorry I forgot about Rime, I'm so sorry Tequila Works. Song of Nunu clearly builds off of what Tequila Works did with Rime
Each studio is bringing their own style to each of these games. The Mageseeker is not a drop in "quality." It is the style Digital Sun has chosen to use, a style they are clearly comfortable with.
If you don't want to play it then don't play it. But remember that each game is being made by a different studio that is putting their own personality into the product. That is not an inherent decrease in quality just because it doesn't look like your cup of tea.
Wish they would've chosen better studios with higher budget to do these things.
Moonlighter is sitting at over 11k reviews btw, so regardless of whether you like the graphics style or not, plenty of people clearly did. Just say its not your cup of tea and move on, instead of sitting there trying to justify why its somehow inherently bad. Weirdo behaviour
I basically did say that it's not my cup of tea. I only added that I wish they would've picked better studios with a higher budget to do these. I don't see anything wrong with that.
But your inner fanboy still felt the need to dickride those devs. That's the real weirdo behavior.
Also 11k reviews are irrelevant. Not only is it an average number at best but also only people that were interested in that type of game reviewed it in the first place. So what even is the point of that comment? I could list games with well over 40k reviews and claim that people like those more than moonlighter so riot should've picked those studios instead but it would be pointless.
11k for an indie game is definitely above average, also I severely doubt you've actually played Moonlighter(I have). Digital sun shines when it comes to pixel graphics, music and left field design choices. If you think the game it's gonna be for you that's fine, you can say that, your opinion is valid. However insulting the studio without playing the game, especially the studio responsible for one of the more successful rougelikes on steam doesn't really make sense. Also ad-hominem attacks are lame.
I never insulted the studio. Saying that there are better studios with bigger budgets isn't anything offensive.
Also what even is your criteria for ''one of the most successful roguelikes on steam''?
Dead cells, vampire survivors, hades, binding of isaac, risk of rain, noita, slay the spire, rogue legacy, enter the gungeon, gunfire reborn etc have significantly more sales. In what world is a game as small as moonlighter ''one of the best''? It's not even top 20.
Compared to the top games 11k reviews is nothing. It very much is average.
You and the other guy get offended by pretty basic opinions and on top of that you're trying to spread fanboy misinformation by calling moonlighter ''one of the most successful roguelikes''. lol.
You keep saying ''not liking the studio or the games is ok'' but get clearly offended by me doing just that. Bad actors.

Amen! They wouldn't sell anything without those licensed characters.
This isnt a roguelike
