It really is that simple... Co-Op (Cooperative) means together with others and ONLY that.
As soon as real players in what ever form as enemies come into the mix it is not Co-Op anymore.

Your 9 to 5 job is co-op (*hopefully)
Portal 2 multiplayer is co-op
The Halo campaigns are co-op
Project Zomboid with PvP TURNED OFF is co-op
This game here is not.

Yes, it's coop. You are coperating with 2 other people or 1-2 friends, working against the environment and other players. It's generally called PVPVE

PvP is so stupid. Just lock in on the PvE mode, and alot of us will play this, PvP just encourages sweats, hackers and people ruining your experience, until you decide not to play, while an elite few stay. Just focus on PvE its not that hard to understand.

Terms change over time in the gaming industry and co-op with pvp in it has been a thing for over two decades and will not go away anytime soon.

If it was just you versus others in a free for all style game then yes that would not be co-op but having teammates in pvp games can always be categorized as a co-op game if they so wish.

There is no need to accuse others of lying when this is a accurate description of what co-op can mean in many games where it applies.

I suppose they could add the term "team co-op" if that was something they wanted to do as that would fix the problem for you.
