What did they do the borderlands franchise?
The humor seems nerfed, the dialogue seems almost preachy at times. From BL3 to the expansions, and then this. What the hell happened?

What I don't understand is, Anthony Burch, the talented writer from bl2, is apparently behind this.
How come he left all the BL legacy behind ?

he's probably a very different man now compared to his b2 era writer persona.

Well, why ? If you believe in your art and abilities, why run a franchise, which is a bit your soul, to the ground?
I'm aware some people can change completely, for the worse, but, for him, I simply don't understand...

i've seen some of anthony's short stories on league of legends stuff, they're kinda neat imo, with his trademark b2 humors sprinkled here and there. perhaps the more accurate theory is that gearbox+2k higher ups didn't want him to repeat the wacky over the top memetastic writing he's done in b2.

his fart jokes writing in b2 are quite cringe-inducing, but other than that, most of the other stuff he's written for b2 characters are so quirky, hilarious and memorable (with some gritty dark humor) imo. especially handsome jack who could be argued as the most important borderlands character that greatly boost the fame of borderlands franchise.

Burch left Gearbox around 2015/2016.

Not sure where you got this info but Lin Joyce (Head of Writing), Doug Lieblich (Lead Writer), and the producer is Frédéric Scheubel. Anthony isn't listed anywhere on the project and he left Gearbox ages ago.

Edit: Funny enough, the main wiki information doesn't list him in the writing and I can only seem to find his credit on his personal IMDB page. More than likely, he was consulted and wrote a little bit (like he did for the first Tales game, where he was consulted and wrote some but it was mostly written by Telltale) but wasn't credited credited cause he wasn't the main writer (idk, it seems weird his credit as writer isn't on literally every source about the game)? I haven't looked to hard at the game credits to see if its listed there. Its not even listed on Anthony's personal site showing what he has worked on (at least, at this time.) It's just weird that him working on the project only seems to be listed on one/two pages out of many on the subject.

Hmmm, fair enough, maybe I was mislead, can't remember the source tbh ...
Possibly was IMDb.

It's probably safe to assume he was only vaguely involved...

Its probably far safer to assume he hasn't worked at Gearbox for almost a decade and as a result not involved at all.

Poor writing is what happend, and it shows in a product that relies heavily on a well written story and characters.

Sign of the times. Anything that's remotely popular swiftly gets hijacked by talentless narcissists, these days. From there on, things only go in one direction, and that is down. For such people are incapable of creating, since creation is first and foremost an act of love. Such is their nature that they can only pervert, distort, and destroy.
