Cursors and more
Cursors at the last stage of development produce much more cookies than all other buildings. Why did they do that?

Cursors get a much larger boost to the cookies per second they get from upgrades, being 20x compared to the typical 2x you get from other building upgrades. They'll remain the best for a while until grandmas with the Elder Battalion aura eventually become better than cursors.
