How to leave Cookie Clicker clicking on laptop while laptop is closed

A friend of mine can close his laptop and cookie clicker keeps running and he is collecting cookies and playtime (In the System Settings you can choose what to do when you close the laptop. But "Do nothing" takes way to much energy and I don't know what he did to make his laptop collecting cookies without being in the "Do nothing" mode.

So my question is how do I change my Energy Settings to collect cookies and playtime with very low energy?

Turning your screen off *does* reduce total system power draw considerably.

Yea i know this is also what "Do Nothing" does. It basicly turns off the screen when closing the laptop. But still needs like 12% per hour which is a lot in my opinion. I'm looking for a better way to save energy

If your processor allows it, you can attempt to downclock it and turn any frequency boosting off. Turning off cores will also save a tiny amount. You're not gonna get around that it has to be turned on, though. I think your friend was just using the offline production ascend upgrades.

After ascending you can buy upgrades that collect cookies when the game is closed. Next time you log on you'll have a lot more.
