Messed up the Garden?

Heya, I'm afraid I kinda messed up my garden. I opened Cookie clicker again a few days ago after 822 days or something. I already had my Garden level 18... As you can imagine I have no idea why I did that at the time. I'm not sure, but I feel like that messed it up. The seeds are so expensive. I literally have no idea when to plant the seeds to unlock other seeds. Is there any way to 'fix' this? Or is there a specific time when to plant, for example wait till you hit a debuff instead of a buff to plant the seeds. But then I have to wait until I hit a debuff. I really don't know how to work with this.

You already answered your own question. Debuff times are good for cheaper seeds. Basically though, just don't be in any kind of a frenzy when you buy your seeds. I fill up my garden all the time with 36 plants and doesn't put a dent in the balance of cookies. It'll pay you back many times over as they grow, if you plant the right ones.

Alright, but by the time I can afford the seeds I can already ascend. Should I stick in the ascension to grow the plants or still ascend?

Kind of boils down to your own current goal and strategy. If you are trying to get your heavenly chips upgrades you need to ascend with enough prestige points to do that. If you are working on getting the garden seed varieties then you might need to just focus on that for a while and not ascend. Keep making cookies and buying plants as you can afford them. Once you have all of the seeds, they are just a bonus to plant for their benefits.
