When to Ascend? (New Player)

Hey, I'm a new player to this game, and I think I kind of like these idle games to play in the background. Just a quick question to all you seasoned players out there. Is there like a good metric of "When to Ascend" or is it really just preference or what? Is this game like really long so ascending early may not be the play, and waiting until like 5-10 ascends is the good way of doing it, or maybe like 20-50? Thanks in advance. Also feel free to leave any other tips you may have about the game because I really don't know much right now.

There's a hidden achievement that is for ascending 1000 times. You have to get over a certain amount of legacy points / prestige points before it counts as an ascension, which takes longer to get to the longer you play. So I wouldn't wait till you are way far into the game if you are trying for that achievement since it will take a lot longer to get it.

There's also an achievement for 100 ascensions.

Each time you ascend in early to mid game, you get to spend your prestige points on heavenly upgrades, which you take with you after the ascension. Those upgrades are valuable in-game. So look on the heavenly upgrades screen before you ascend, buy the upgrades you can afford, then look to see how many legacy points it will cost to get your next few heavenly upgrades you cannot yet afford, and don't ascend the next time until you have that many prestige/legacy points.

The 100 ascensions is the next achievement I'm going for... how many prestige points do I need for it to count? Any any thoughts on when the best time to ascend is to I get some progress along with the ascension? (I'm coming back after not playing for a year and have about 3.5 quintillion prestige, so it takes a while before I ascend each time... probably why I stopped playing )

If I recall correctly you need just 1 prestige point to get it to count as an ascension. But after you ascend you have to wait for the thing to start counting up again, that's the waiting part. It's not long, just monotonous to do. 100 ascensions isn't hard, it's the hidden 1000 that's a PITA.

There's also one more thing to mention about ascending. There's a heavenly upgrade that only unlocks when you get four 7's in your prestige level after ascending. It's random, but if you look online there might be a way to strategize for it. I got it luckily while trying to get the 100 ascension achievement. But the longer you are in game probably the harder it is to get, so you might want to look that up before you get too far. Until you get that you cannot get 129/129 heavenly upgrades, you only get to 128.
