Wrath Cookies

So, running the Grandmapocalypse for the first time I just don't see the worth in the Wrath cookies. According to most sources on the wiki and what old comments I can find the benefit of the Grandmapocalypse (other than the wrinkler bonus if you're idling) is that you get wrath cookies which have a "decent chance" of giving golden cookie effects and in a best case scenario can give you an elder frenzy which gives a crazy amount of cookies.

However after running it for about three hours and clicking a couple dozen wrath cookies I've gotten negative effects probably 90% of the time and gotten an elder frenzy exactly once.

This does not seem like it's worth it to my long term CPS, especially when you consider how many Clots lower my idle Wrinkler output and how many Ruins just lose me a ton of cookies.

Is there a benefit I'm just not seeing, were Wrath Cookies just made worse since all these old guides/posts or were people just lucky?

As you progress the wrinklers add a big bonus once popped if you let them gobble up cookies overnight. You need to get more legacy built up to really see the difference.
You gotta raise your pet dragon up to max to get 2 boxes to select additional bonuses one of which is x2 to your overall cps (cookies per second). The 2nd box you can get an additional 2 wrinklers (dragon guts for 20% more) for more bonus cookies once popped.

I too, once thought the grannie apocalypse was not worth it but in the end it gives big bonuses if you idle them awhile.
