Save File Gone

Loaded up Cookie Clicker this morning and nothing, right back to the beginning. Is there anything I can do or am I just screwed?

The same happened to me a two month ago when everything was gone, but Steam still had my Achievements at 70% while the game had it at 0%. My Cloud didn't have the save file. You may have it so check.

Best to save the game's session by using its export feature:

Options > Export save (copy/paste into a text file).


To check and restore Cloud saves:

In your web browser, go to Steam and log in > Steam support > My account > Data related to my account > scroll to upload content section, and first one is Steam cloud. Click Steam cloud button and wait a couple of seconds for it to load the page. Now you can download your cloud save for the game.

To replace the game save, go to the game's save location and replace the save there. 1454400 is Cookie Clicker:

<Steam-folder> \userdata\ <user-id> \1454400\remote\save.txt

It did for ages for me then for whatever reason one day it just loaded up as if I had never played before. No save or cloud save to be found.
