Kitten or Cookies for my permanent upgrade slot?

I am getting ready for my first ascent when I reach level 577, and I am trying to figure out which will serve me best, to put a kitten or a golden cookie upgrade into my permanent slot. As I understand it, if I am an active player, the golden cookie would be better, but if I am a passive player my top kitten would be best. (which is the Kitten Overseers). Did I get this right?

Also, I have all three golden cookie/4 leaf clover upgrades. However, the most expensive one, Get Lucky, only says it makes cookies last longer, while the cheaper one, Serendipity says it will both make cookies last longer & appear more often. Now if I choose the more expensive Get Lucky, will it also give me the bonus of the two previous golden cookie upgrades, or am I actually better with the cheaper one? Thanx for any info.

Go for the kitten, the golden cookie upgrades only cost 80 trillion max, you'll get there pretty quickly.
