This game's offline cookie production is rough

The way this game handles offline cookie production is kinda baffling. You have basically don't have access to it until you've already played the game for several weeks and get enough heavenly chips to fully unlock all the Angel and Demon upgrades.

Why do this? I know you can mod it in if you want, I just find it to be a weirdly stingy and somewhat sadistic design choice. The game already incentivizes you to play actively by making golden cookies the most effective way to progress your CpS. Why punish a passive playstyle even more by making the player have to leave the game open to able to continue to produce cookies? It's an annoying inconvenience, and seeing the game open keeps tempting you to check on it every once in a while to click on golden cookies. It's like it was purposefully made to waste as much of your time as possible. Some people even leave their computers on overnight to keep producing cookies, which has the actual real world consequence of increasing their power bill. Why is idling punished in an idle game?

TL:DR

Locking offline cookie production until way later makes the game worse and limits your playstyle options. Scrap the angel and demon upgrades and give the player full offline cookie production from the get-go.

Or... its an game that is supposed to have a slow progression. So having the angel/demon upgrades and the ability to increase and improve offline cookie production is alright.

If you do not want to idle this game, just focus on the AFK ascension branches, which once levelled will allow you to produce cookies almost as much as if you were actually playing the game.

This is not a game that is intended to finished off in a couple of weeks anyway, hence the argument of "several weeks" is a little bit moot.

If one wants to speed run, just use mods or download a save from someone in the forums.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the game has a slower pace, and I appreciate that. It's just this one specific design decision that was driving me nuts. Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore.

In a fit of rage, I looked up how to unlock the dev tools, proceeded to do so, and bought all buildings, upgrades, heavenly upgrades, etc, and spoiled everything for myself. It was only later, after I calmed down, that I realized I could have unlocked just the offline CpS production upgrades and continued to play the game as normal.

Blinded by anger, I sunk the ship just to kill the captain, but killed everyone else in the process. It's all over for me now.

I thought the game was AFK-able (Offline cookie production) similarly to the Web version when I bought it. I tried to refund it but I was already 2 hours into my first run before thinking about closing the game and letting it collect cookies in offline, and when I reopened the game I saw there was no progress.

This game being idle is not fun when it comes to gameplay and so I thought I would just let it run in the background and collect me achievements. But it didn't, so I found a way to get all the achievements anyways and just delete the game.

When i didn't know there was Angel/Demon upgrades, and about heavenly upgrades at all, it was a great surprise and i've felt the real progression that is much more noticeable than just ingreasing damage or healthbar in other games.

It seems that you, sadly, spoilered these heavenly upgrades, maybe that's why you feeling upset.
