How do I save scum for special sugar lumps?

I know about the save scum trick where you save and repeatedly reload the game to get the maximum amount of lumps from whatever's growing as soon as it matures. But, I also heard that there's a way to save scum the type of sugar lump you get. I have no idea how to do it though, since as far as I know, without mods, theres no way to know what type of sugar lump you're going to get before it reaches stage 5 of its growth cycle. The wiki isn't telling me anything either. Anyone here know how?
