The advantage is buying the developer a well-deserved cup of coffee. And also you get to use the Steam workshop, which could be a massive advantage if you're into mods.

You also get:
- music (if you like that kind of thing)
- steam achievements as a permanent reminder of your time wasted
- cloud saves to give your save file more resilience than a browser cookie

Eh, five dollars is nothing. If the game has brought you more cumulative joy than a cup of coffee then the cost is already justified.

Reading this post makes me sad... So, a person puts hours of work to produce a game that is easy to become addicted to and 5 dollares needs to have its advantages compared to a free alternative?

Not judging, but paying for another person's work is legitimate and fair no matter the pros and cons, even if applicable.

What are you on about? Cookie Clicker has been free in the browser to anyone for the last 8 years, I think people are allowed to wonder what the Steam version does different if at all.

Allowed, yes, sure. Just pay the 5 dollars if you draw any kind of fun out of the game already. It's called common human decency and respect for other people's work.
Fabio for someone who updates the game once every year and added 0 new game impacting upgrades, buildings, or mention worthy stuff without having to wait another year, why pay 5$?

You're looking at it the wrong way. Cookie Clicker isn't a subscription service; you're paying for all the work that went into previous updates and the game itself. This is a game that's been in development for nearly ten years, so $5 is nothing, especially considering the game has absolutely no mictrotransactions.

Just in general support the game developer and make their day with a little profit so they can get something out of their hard work.

you mainly get the workshop but in my opinion it's just a quick and easy way to support the devs which i like a lot
