(upgrade farms, temples, banks and wizard towers)
There are more advanced ways to use sugar lumps, concerning fishing for golden cookies in the Wizard tower, and tripling your CPS for an hour, but those are end-game strategies once you've unlocked some of the better plants in the Garden.
Lump 2: unlock the grimoire (wizard tower)
Lump 3: unlock the temple
Lump 4-> :upgrade farm until plot is max size (6x6)
Everything after that you should just save up, there is a late game upgrade that will give you a 1%+ buff to cps for each sugar lump you have up to 100 lumps in bank. There is almost no way you'll spend them more efficently upgrading buildings (except the farm) than you would saving them.
