50 or more prestige levels before ascending?! it took me weeks to get to 1! how could I possibly have the game open constantly like it expects? I always had a line about idle games, not to play ones that don't run offline, and I'm really regretting crossing that line. -_-

I was able to get 446 trillion prestige after my first month of playing. Its been rather slow since then (all ascension upgrades are done already).
The defacto best way to quickly climb is golden cookies. Popping the combo's at the same time will send cookies to the moon.
Get wiz tower to produce another golden cookie chance each time one goes off. Dont be scared of wrigglers or wrath cookies either. Use them to your advantage.

after you hit a certain point in the mid-late game, the prestige points rack up like mad, to counteract this; the game has some pretty pricey prestige items in place, like on the billions of heavenly chips, but after a while, you'll get there in no time.

It's down to luck. I've gotten a few backfires in a row, too.

well try to avoid grandma apocalypse for the 1st ascension, if you want an huge jump on cookie production try this :

Click a golden cookie, get the normal x7 buff,
wait when the buff reach 30% of the timer left, most of the time a cookie will spawn near this timer
Click the cookie if its an other buff or the x777 use your mage spell

the chance of backfire are higher when you have other golden cookie buff, but if you hit 1 time a double buff + x777 clic multiplier with an autoclicker you will break the game and reach a crazy amount of prestige point

This thread is blowing my mind. I experimented at first (I do try to find things out on my own..) and ascended with only +4. Oh well. That's a few days more or less "wasted", or just very inefficient play.

After starting new again I started playing very actively and figured out strategies, like getting all golden cookie Upgrades, force hand of fate at 25% time remaining on a frenzy, selling farms during buffs for the 1% Buff per sold building from the Pantheon Spirit, while buying Updates and Buildings in a balanced way..

Now I have a +4 on the Top Right Prestige Thing after something like 12 hours, with something like 5 Billion cps, and it's really slow going. People ascend for the first time with +400 points or more? I don't get it at all. Is there a point *before* the first Ascension where it suddenly gets way faster? Right now it looks like it would take ages to even get to +400...

It's just a matter of how active you are and how long you're willing to wait. I know my first ascension was at over 2000 prestige. If you get lucky with some golden cookie combos, you can get pretty far.
