Note that wrinklers also benefit from Golden/Wrath Cookie effects that temporarily multiply your CPS. (esp the one that gives you a x666 multiplier) So after that's also a decent time to pop them.
I like to wait as long as possible to pop them. The more they eat, the greater the cookies you get. But I'm not sure it makes sense to wait for weeks and months or longer, based on one's a) personal goals, b) tolerance for long periods of time with minimal activity, c) whims that may one suddenly have for whatever reason...
Sometimes I give myself a time frame where I don't touch the game except for the Stock Market. Other times I allow myself to ignore the game completely for a week and them pop them when I come back. Even other times, I may get the 'blahs' in my personal life that want me to pop earlier than intended. For instance... ...get bored - desire an activity that could trigger more activity - have a whim to see how much closer to doubling my ascension that a popping can provide - curious on how an upgrade purchased last time I popped impacts my prestige towards my next ascension if I were to pop now....
In short, do what you feel is fun to you. The longer you wait to pop, the more cookies you get. But balance that with how boring it is for you to let the game run on its own. Balance when you are willing to pop vs the increased rewards gained from not popping.
There is no wrong answer. Everyone should find their own balance between popping and not popping based on numerous factors - factors that are controlled in the game as well as factors in real life. Experiment. An individual really can't make a wrong decision\action here.
Im currently trying to get 440 prestige levels for my first ascension ( i have 300), so i guess that the best thing to do is keep them around for a long time, but yeah my progress (CPS wise) is really slow right now, the only 2 things that give me more progress is the frenzy + click frenzy combo and these little guys.
