It definitely isn't the first, it's the first one that MADE the incremental category more popular. Anti Idle goes back to 2009, CC is like from 2013
You basically have to unlock its idle part later, but you have to work for it at first.
you seriously believe a 2013 game is the first clicker game? There were plenty of others before, idle or clicker, and it did not initiate the genre, it only made it more popular
The game is one of the first and most important in the genre of incremental games and has a dedicated fanbase.
To me, Cookie clicker is really fine like this. Sure it gets slow overtime and trust me I just got this game later in the day yesterday, But i've been playing this game since it came around on Tumblr, back when it didn't even look the way it did (aka cookie clicker classic, you can still play this version too!). I feel like many games in the series tries to make progression faster, to give that dopamine effect immediately while Cookie clicker will give you more content overtime the more you play it that grants an even bigger boost of dopamine when you play it. Sure the beginning part is actually kinda fast, you can get to your first 1 million per second in a couple of hours, But the beauty of this game comes from the patience you have with it.
If the game is too slow, just cheat. Seriously. Use the web browser to start a game, open the console, give yourself enough for your first ascension, and port the save to steam. You can just skip the early game if you want.
Free to play mobile games rely on keeping your attention for longer periods of time by making it look like you're making more progress than you actually are, and the higher amount of <insert point name here>s ends up bloating the cost of buildings/characters and upgrades. This game is an idle game that you leave on in the background and check in on every once in a while, and eventually build up to the high-tier buildings and build a high prestige to unlock parts of the game (such as spellcasting, farming, and seasons) that allow you to gain absurd CpS from knowing what, and when to do certain things. Pretty sure the game was also originally built as a joke and is actively trying to make you stop playing it and go outside.
Basically; Illusion of progression vs. long-term, real progression.
No you are not, and also that's not a proud title to be calling yourself even if you were.
Cookie clicker is an OG idle game from like 2010... I used to play it on my school computers back then.
Uhh what? What do any of the games I listed have anything to do with F2P mobile games? Also, the only mobile idle that I did was Realm Grinder, and I didn't do it for long, cuz its very obnoxious on mobile
"Its not slow u just dont understand the mechanics"
ah yes, when I have to wait a whole hour just to buy 1 building, in the meantime I do a whole run in Clicker Heroes or 1-2 reincarnations in Realm Grinder, yup, that's definitely not slow. Now I may have been pointed towards the spells by another user, and while this has definitely helped me, the game is slow. It grows 1 sugar lump in 1 day, and +1 in ascension would only give you 1% cps unlike 10 or even 100 like you would get in other games
""I'm an OG clicker/incremental games player"

Wow good job assuming smth about somebody when you don't even know anything about them. I'll let you in on a secret, not even 5 years ago I was on kongregate, doing my first run in Realm Grinder. On a side, I played Anti Idle. Back in the day there were 2 chat rooms for Anti Idle as there were still players for both chat rooms, over time 2 became 1 as a lot of people left. I know all this because I went through all of that myself. You don't just get this kind of experience in a spur of a moment. Also, there were more than 10 active chat rooms for Realm Grinder, which also heavily diminished down to 4-6 as a lot of people started leaving the game, especially later on when NGU came out
So who are you to tell me whether I am an OG idler or not?
Also, Cookie Clicker was released in 2013, any source on the internet would confirm that. So you don't even know anything
Because those games were designed to be played fast and on short runs while cookie clicker was designed as a slow paced game that you can have on alternative tab (or minimized on this case) while you do other stuff and your cookies grow, while clicking sometimes after certain point?
Cookie clicker is a proper idle game. Not some small Minigame claiming to be an idle game. It's supposed to kinda just, sit open and be looked at every now and then. Ya know. Played IDLY.
Let's say you're waiting for another game to load a match, or you're waiting for friends to join, or you have a couple of minutes of spare time before a meeting, you can untab the game and click the cookie for a while, grab a few buildings in the meantime. That's what this game is supposed to be. Not something you stare at constantly for an hour or open up every 5 minutes.
