This is the slowest Idle game ever
I'm an OG incremental/idle games player. I've played many of them - Realm Grinder, NGU, Anti Idle, Reactor Idle etc.

Recently I started Clicker Heroes (2 days ago) and I can clearly see how much faster that game is compared to cookie clicker

I don't get it, really. I am at like billions/trillions cookies, I can ascend for +2 but apparently that +2 will only give me TWO percent cps? Seriously? It took me so long just to go from +1 to +2 but the game is just designed like that

The production is horrible, I have to wait literally like half an hour at least just to buy one single building, and since I already have 10-15 of them my production doesn't go up that much, so I spent like the last 2 days BARELY going up in production. How is this fun? I literally can't even play the game, I come back to it every 2 hours just to buy 2-4 buildings and that's it

Cookie multipliers are expensive as hell, and only give you +2% for 1 Trillion when that 1 Trillion can buy me 2 buildings, I have already bought all visible multipliers and have leveled my grandmas since they boost other buildings but it doesnt matter, it's just so slow

At what point in this game can you actually play it and do like 1 ascension in a day like in Clicker Heroes where I can ascend every couple of hours? Is this even a thing here or it's just designed to be so obnoxiously slow?

The key is to click golden cookies and combine certain buffs for insane income spikes, I got to 440 legacy for 1st ascention in about 2-3d and now back with 2k legacy in half a day.

You hit the point where golden cookies and their upgrades become super important.
It's now pretty much impossible to make decent progress without those, just by waiting.

how the heck did you do that? certain buffs? Like what? I know you can trigger a golden cookie that only lasts for a minute, that doesn't exactly help me that much. What buffs are we talking about again? Maybe I missed something

There are two means to achieve overlapping golden cookie effects, which you can also combine with each other. The first, and most straighforward is that after you clicked enough golden cookies, you unlock the upgrade "Get lucky" in the store for 77.777.777.777.777, which will double the duration of all golden cookie effects.

Before that upgrade you also unlock two others that will each halve the respawn rate of golden cookies. Once you have all three, Frenzy will last for more than 2 minutes, with an extremely high likelihood that a second golden cookie will spawn while frenzy is still active.

The second method is to use a sugar lump to upgrade your wizard towers at least once. Doing so unlocks number of spellcast abilities. The most powerful of which is "Force the Hand of Fate" which will either spawn a golden cookie instantly, or on the occasional backfire a wrath cookie which you can simply ignore.

Ok cool and uhh how do you even make golden cookies spawn early in the game? Do they always come after a certain period of time or you have to just be lucky and catch them?

You just have to be lucky, getting the golden cookie frequency upgrades helps tremendously though.

Golden Cookies have an invisible timer that runs in the background after you click a cookie. The timer is separated into two parts essentially. A down period in which a cookie cannot spawn, and then a period where they have a roughly equal chance to spawn each second, unless when the timer runs out at which they are guaranteed to spawn. The upgrades cut the timer in half each time, which also shortens the period in which natural spawns are disabled to be well under 2 minutes.

Upgradin the wizard towers with sugar lumps more than once does increases mana regen?

Allright thanks a lot, I didnt even realize these mini games were that vital to the overall progress, it's unlike any other idle I've played before

So gimme a hint - do I spam wizard towers as much as I can so I get more max mana cuz apparently you regenerate mana faster if you have a lot of mana left in the pool after casting a spell or is the m/s increase negligible?

I don't think you need to be too focused on spamming towers. The MP you gain from having more towers is also fairly small. From 35 to 56 towers, I gained 4 extra MP. I'd more recommend not using the spell as soon as you have the MP though. From 0 MP you will have to endure the slowest possible regeneration, but even just a couple points in the bank help getting the next recharge tier much earlier, meaning your spell will probably be ready more frequently that way.

You should have a look at this wiki page: https://cookieclicker.fandom.com/wiki/Grimoire#Optimal_max_limits

Many spells will actually take longer to recharged when you have more max mana, because the cost of spell casting increases at much higher rate than mana regeneration.

I maxed all Heavenly Chips after about 70H active fameplay but with a golden cookie autoclicker.

You should not give new players bad advice. Achievements are going to be magnitudes more important than cutting a few extra seconds out of the cooldown for Force the Hand of Fate. Once they have all achievements related to getting 600 of each building, then they can optimize their wizard towers.

OP, you do realize that Cookie Clicker is THE OG Clicker/Incremental game?
It's like one of the first, if not THE first of its kind.

So yeah, things are slow. That's how it was back then. There are several things, that we take for granted today, missing in Cookie Clicker.
Though it has been updated over the many MANY years since its conception, but there are still many things missing / different than the more modern incrementals/clickers/idles that get out these years...
