Benefits of the Steam version:
* Cloud saves - no more accidental deletion because you wiped your browser cache
* Steam achievements

Drawbacks of the Steam version:
* It costs $5; browser version is free
* Cookie Monster is a little bit buggy here

That's it; that's the whole thing. You can even transfer save files between them. I hope that most of the people buying it understand this and are just happy to throw a few bucks towards a game they've played for a long time. (I've played this game on and off for about 8 years... I figure it's worth $5.)

The main purpose of the steam version being $5 is to support the creator[s], Yes the browser one is free and you can feel free to play that one, but i don't see the need or reason to complain when you can be satisfied with the free version.

The only reason i do see you coming here is to see how many people you can annoy or to rile up, You have 2 options.

1.Play the free browser version
2.Pay $5 and support the game to further develop the game and possibly get a support feature that you only get for supporting the $5 version on steam.

Seeing how you have complained about the steam version, I wish you well and to enjoy the browser version, but don't complain about the browser version if updates are late.

i have reasons why i bought it on steam. but maybe these are reasons you dont udnerstand.

first.
i love idle games. and im willing to pay for good idle games. as long they are not to expensive fun/money value.

second.
i love to have my games on one site. this is steam. i dont want to open xyz browser tabs to play games. look at all the bookmarks and so on. if i want to play a game i start steam and lets go.

third.
i like devs who are giving things for free. this game is free since 2013 and also free now. all the dev want now is a bit of money. i dont smoke or waste money on other things like this and 4-5 bucks is nothing for someone doing things for free since 8 years.

fourth.
i never played the "original". so this is a fresh idle game for me. + look at second

fifth.
steam gives you some options. like steamcloud. steam forum and so on. i prefer this over reddit and wiki sites.

there are some more reasons. but i dont want to be forced to sell this game to you. i dont want also be forced to "defend" me for buying a game i like just because you rage about a game you cant afford.
