Do a little research into idle games, aka clicker games, it's a whole genre. And, to be honest, they're not really games, just programs designed to exploit our tendency to like numbers going up for no reason.
Any kind of management game as an example: Make population go up. Make money go up.
The web version is basically the same, and free
understandable. For me it's just a nice little game to have open in the background while i'm doing other work. it's fun seeing the numbers go up lol
It's a classic.
If you don't think there's enough action, then run it side by side your normal content
All day
All the time.
It doesn't have to be the main thing you get up to do every day. Just a downtime, or a number to look at every now and then
It's cheap busywork that is technically free (if you just play the web version). No Freemium mechanics. No expansion packs. Just click.
You don't think it's good enough to compete with what you're playing? That's fine. Just play both. Cookie Clicker requires so little focus depending on what you want that you don't have to focus if you don't want to.
And it's really just that simple.
It's really not that complicated.
