Report a translation problem
Why I would have appreciated any last report on things, being frank and blunt to tell their player community business affairs does not help either. Take League of Geeks with Jumplight Oddyssey. Due to financial problem during corona time they couldn't raise anymore money to develope 2 projects at once paying two dev teams, so they told their players what and why and begged for pardon, made a 'final' update to get the game mostly out of EA, and put it into a hiatus state while firing half of their team (necessarily to not loose the whole studio). And, gosh, what can I tell, the studio earned a lot of (in my opinion unnecessary toxic) hate. The game was downvoted due to that (but still being a pretty interesting and entertaining game) killing the change to raise still some money to support the already on the brink of death studio... and finally killing the chance that the game will ever be revived when the studio recovers financially (they at least sad they want to if possible). How stupid people can be, if you ask me. Luckily League of Geeks is still around working on their other project and still having a couple of other games still paying some bills atm. Still hoping they finish Jumplight Oddyssey one day. I love the concept and had a lot of fun playing the actual 'final' game version.
But I guess, dying indie studios are a natural risk when you back a KS or buy EA. They don't have enough financial options if things don't work out as calculated because of unforseen things. For a AAA publisher with aplenty of games already in sale this is not a big deal.

I really hate when people call games past 1.0 "abandoned"
They finished the game. Yes it could use polish, yes it could use bug fixes, maybe some goals were not met.
But I quite enjoyed the game with friends. Voice acting was cringe here and there, good other times. We enjoyed it and $20 was worth it.
It wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that they never buffed any of the characters after supposedly nerfing them into oblivion, nor have they addressed any of the other complaints I've seen about the game either.
The main critic points from players after release were:
1. backtravelling issues after endgame started (fixed with v1.3.7)
2. hitbox and clunky battle movements
3. survival mode still missing (KS stretch goal) (fixed with v1.5.7)
4. contact damage (fixed with v.1.5.7)
Point 1 was fixed with the first big patch. Barriers are erasable and portals can be reactivated again later in the endgame. Tag Metroidvania is back in business,
Point 2 was already a big complaint after the demo version was released, but the devs never felt to fix this, and I guess at this state it isn't anymore without altering too much about the game itself (would be a major overhaul). So my guess is there will never be any fix for this. The devs should have really reacted asap the complaints pured in after the people played the demo. It is a pitty they did not. Did cost them a lot of reviews - and is still the worst part about the game atm.
Point 3 was promised for the next big update, along with an enemy logbook that will help identifiying not killed enemies for the Steam achievement as well. Patch might happen, might not. It is pretty quiet (this this discussion), and the game sales are too less due to bad reviews that I see good chances that it will ever come. But let's be still optimistic :)
Point 4 is no big issue for myself. A lot of games have contact damage, don't understand the hype about it. This should not hinder anyone to play this game. I think it is only a problem combined with the clunky hitboxes and battle movements. But this will most likely never be changed anyway as well, I guess. So just coping with that like in other games is the best thing to do.
Same goes for all the buffing and nerfing. Those are only slight changes to balancing, Isn't affecting the game too much. I mentioned a lot of the changes in my guide after the big first patch in the character section.
Judging from that actual point, if you are interested in the game, nothing the next patch (and most likely the last one ever to come) will bring anything in particular that will affect the game a lot. I played the game already multiple times, solo or with one or two friends, and it is still enjoyable as it is (even with point 2). So I guess if you get it on a sale, you won't really regret it.
1. backtravelling issues after endgame started (fixed already with v1.3.7)
2. hitbox and clunky battle movements (still not addressed, but most likely never will)
3. survival mode still missing (KS stretch goal) (fixed with v1.5.7, Ghost Ship mode)
4. contact damage (fixed with v.1.5.7, Jolly Roger casual mode)
And we got a neat bestiary *cheers*
