Ending (spoilers!)
Please turn back now if you don't want the ending spoiled and you have not finished the entire main questline.

Does anyone else feel a little empty with the fact that Elizabeth isn't dead and there was no 'murder mystery'? Somehow she's alive, brunette, and able-bodied? I spoke to everyone in town after the ending cutscene where she gives you the photo of the MB CEO who took her place, and no one batted an eye at this major turn of events!

They say something along the lines of "the previous one had you hold these shoes" implying that she's not the same Elizabeth you meet at the start of the game. If you continue the other missions, does this situation ever get more of an explanation or some acknowledgement or is this something left for player interpretation and abandoned after that cutscene?

How do y'all feel about this or interpret it?

If you talk to townies after Elizabeth returns , they mention not having memories of her death, vaguely referring to a time when "something bad happened." I think the weird secrets of the town are just unexplained, maybe? Like, none of it makes sense but that's what makes Rainy Woods special. .

What I find really interesting is that in the backer credits from the title screen, there's a scene shown in the background where Elizabeth's body rises up with the sword in her as if she comes back from the dead!! I have no idea where that could possibly fit in. I did the entire "E" questline hoping it might have that cutscene at the end but it did not.

Did u get her final gift? U finish her quest afterward or before the ending?

I finished it after I beat the game but I did get her final gift. It was a life-size statue of Naomi. Maybe finishing it before the end of the game has a different effect? I'm not sure.

It's the same. No effect on the before or after, I guess that is it for me. I doubt there any explanation even when you finished all the sides quests.

That a wrap for me. I seriously think that E email going to give some sort of explanation, but I guess it's just another side quest.

The reward is a job well done and a happy ghost girlfriend. :)

My only guess as to what's going on is that Elizabeth is the literal spirit of rural England protecting the "magic" or "secrets" of the countryside. She appears at the top of the Anglican church where the Britannia statue broke, which coincided with Naomi's arrival and her death .
