Performance issues? Denuvo?
Really fun game, but Denuvo kills it for me, as it has done with many other titles in the past.

My specs:
Intel 10900k
EVGA 3080ti
32 GB of RAM @ 3600 MHz
Game installed on an M.2 drive

It ran great in the car building segment, but the moment I got into races it started freezing and stuttering to an unplayable degree. Even lowering from the auto-selected "Epic" settings down to "High" and "Medium" did not change the performance.

Admittedly, my components were a bit toasty (70-80 degrees) thanks to summer heat and no air conditioning in my current living space, but those temperatures shouldn't cause the insane level of performance drops I experienced in this game. On top of that, the temperatures and processing speed of components did not change much at all between the garage and racing sections, and GPU-Z is not showing any temperature or power performance caps, so nothing obvious in the game seemed to actually be weighing down my system, and yet the freezes still occurred.

There's no reason this game should run this bad on my setup, and that's seriously disappointing.

Anyone else having similar? Should I assume the problem is Denuvo like it was for my in some of the newer Assassin's Creed titles and others?

EDIT: Just to add, I have tried much of the typical suggested troubleshooting for general performance issues -

- Power saving options are disabled in Windows and Nvidia Control Panel
- GPU Drivers up to date
- Restarted PC
- Closed background programs
- Lowered settings

I have a better system but it runs absolutely smooth at locked 120 FPS. Doubt Denuvo has any impact on a rig like mine or yours.

Super weird! I have had no problems with other recent releases, including ones others expressed issues on (Wo Long for example) but this game just died for me the moment it put me in a "real" race against multiple opponents for the first time.

I may have to refund and try again when I move or the heat dies down, see if it really is just my PC being choked out, but I haven't had any other problems lately until this game.

Temps of like 70-80*c are absolutely fine, it is not even close to thermal throttling. If CPU temperatures go above 90*C in games (not benchmarks) I would consider a better cooling solution but not before that. You have at those temps absolutely no issue with degrading performance.

Not sure what is the problem here obviously, but a refund is a good choice either way.

Continual freezes, it sounds like. Which IS odd. I do not encounter any of those whatsoever, and I have the game running at max with a very similar (if not, not quite as powerful) machine. Something funny is goin' on behind the scenes.

sounds like your drivers need updating or you might need top reinstall your drivers. i have y'all all have rig's better then mine and i still run 120fps locked no issues.

I have had four stutters in eight hours of play time. I experienced them randomly in the open world, but it hasn't been stuttering during races, yet.
My rig is similar to OPs, but my cpu is amd.

I am getting micro stutters while driving as well and my system is at least as high as you two

Remember that your CPU, RAM, GPU and an SSD isn't everything. The motherboard is also very important. Bad/untopimal board = issues.

For example, I used to have an x470 board that only ever received a beta BIOS for my CPU. The result was constant stuttering in certain games, like Fortnite, no matter what. In MW2 my graphics would bug out and I'd get blinding, corrupted rainbow textures all over the place. Swapped to a more optimal board, a B550 Tomahawk, and it fixed pretty much all my issues.

If you haven't already, make sure you have the latest chipset drivers for your CPU/Mobo. That's important. And a BIOS update may not be necessary but may help if there's been optimizations to the board.

I run the game on a 5800X, RTX 3080, 32GB of RAM @ 3200Mhz on a 7200RPM HDD and the only stuttering I had is right in the beginning with DirectX 12's quirky shader caching. After that it's been smooth sailing ever since.
