That's kind of hard to judge since EA is a much larger studio and this one is in Early Access. I personally find that the game scratches the same itch as Fight Night Champion did for me in terms of gameplay but, I'm not gonna say it's comparable when the game's still being developed.

Of course you're also opening yourself up to a flood of comments along the lines of "this game is garbage, Fight Night was perfect, I want to bear Fight Night's children."

Well the last Fight Night is also over 12 years old.
So asking for a better game this long after shouldn't be that big of a problem should it?

I think this game has potential but, like I said, it's still in Early Access so, it's not like I compare the career modes since they're still developing that, and they're still working out getting certain features into online fights (for example, you can't yet clinch in online fights).

So like I said, hard question to answer. The devs are also struggling to figure out which things need to change vs. which things are actually fine but are unpopular with weaker players, who tend to complain the loudest.

If you want it to be as good or better than the Fight Night series then, you'd be better off waiting until it's closer to completion. If you're willing to gamble on it for the cheaper price tag (it'll probably be $50 or higher at launch) then, get it while the sale's still on.

From a gameplay mechanics issue right now the answer is yes but with caveats. If you play single player fight night round 4, then I think this game is better. When you add online functionality then the answer is no.

Currently the game has a fair amount of depth and you will read a lot of negative comments but I think they are from a small minority of players saying the game is trash. The game still is being worked on and balanced but the core mechanics are definitely here in this game. The countering is decent, the movement is decent and the fighter variety is pretty large given it's still a fraction of the signed fighters they have access to. The graphics are better and you can tell that the "bones" of the game and the presentation style have a LOT of potential,

When you take the game online and then start talking about other features, the answer becomes no. There is no career mode yet, online is riddled with cheaters and the game is p2p without any anti-cheat. Due to issues such as desync between your network and your opponent's network, the game can be exploited and also it is currently preventing any clinch work and stance switching from online game play.

These are some reasons that the game is definitely worth it right now if you are a boxing fan but with considerations that may make this a better "wait and see purchase" if you are not chomping at the bit for a new boxing sim to play. I am a huge boxing sim fan and gladly paid the 30 dollars full early access price and have 500 hours which far exceeds the price of admission currently. With the sale going on now until 5/29, I would say it's a low risk purchase for almost any boxing fan to buy. I also have my criticisms and what not but this is about as unbiased as I can be. Hope this helps a bit.

Dog of John Wick's entire gimmick is that he comes to the forum and calls the game "Trash." He also apparently got kicked out of the devs discord for doing what I assume to be the same thing. He's not going to give you any actual feedback.

I'd say this has the potential to be great. Some things fight night does better, (e,g. you could fire a hook to the head while ducking) and the arm stamina thing in this makes little sense but understandable as a fix even if it doesn't work as intended, but Undisputed's movement *for some boxers is very good. Online is mostly trash fights but it's good practise. AI is a bit wonky as well (out-boxers don't engage) A lot of things need to be addressed... Worth it if you like boxing and want something that feels good when it works.

Game has a lot of promise and will eventually be better the FN but its going to take some time. At least a year.

this game is a game you buy and think, 'right i understand it might not be great right now but the potential it has is overwhelming to say the least. so ill pick the game back up in maybe a year, but least ive got it now on a cheap price and can follow along with the progression'

thats IMO

however if you want to have the most fun, stay off anything to do with how the game plays, tutorials etc, because after a certain amount of hours you will pick up on things that are just broken

dont read up with all the negativity and reviews surrounding it, then you're setting yourself up to hate the game a lot sooner...

for an example of the last sentence

sorry disclaimer if ur new dont read below

rounds online are host based and its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ aids hahaha you cant unsee the horror
