Career mode
no matter how high i get my stamina by round 8 im completely depleted. im currently at 83 stamina and speed at 76. im significantly slower out of the gate and get drained half way through the fight even without throwing power shots. Meanwhile every cpu fake fighter is seemingly unaffected by stamina and is throwing combos smooth as butter up til round 8. i havent had a 12 round bout yet but i could only imagine not being able to move by round 9.

Quick fight against AI, so you can see their stamina bar. They are not unaffected by it and after the last patch it is even more consistent. AI sometimes throws very smooth combos, but mostly at full stamina and you can also throw them, but less consistently I guess.
So I consider stamina more manageable now. Really, practice with AI on highest difficulty. Find a working approach with a real boxer.

Yeah, I was gonna say...I quite often manage to wear AI opponents out by making them miss and then countering.

Some of it is the apparently bugged stamina recovery system but you also want to pick your punches better (granted if you're playing on the highest difficulty, this is much harder as the CPU's resistance to damage makes it extremely difficult to get KO's with anything less than saturation bombing). If you're playing on Pro or lower you can probably do more damage than you realize with just a few well-placed punches. If you noticed yourself land a few counters in quick succession, consider the opponent hurt and pressure them. If it's been some time since your last good few hits, wait until another opportunity comes out instead of trying to force it.

And also, consider simply taking it slow in the first couple of rounds. When I made it to 10 round fights in Career Mode I started doing just enough in the first 2 rounds to win the rounds, but I didn't start trying to hurt the opponent until more midway through the fight.

Its a countering game in career mode.
I am only playing on normal difficulty atm, but I literally just do a 1 2 pull back the whole fight until I see my opponent is gassed then I use the combos to finish them off.
