but i mean... its not full release, this is actually a solid update, i just hope they listen and up the pace drastically, every single punch at the moment is seemingly thrown by a 65 year old right now, no snap and speed to jabs, but i feel it can be redeemed if they listen carefully to what the community wants.
This is apparently the final update!
its not bro or it would be out of early access, its update 0.7 and they plan to release on the next update which will be 1.0... likely the biggest update of the bunch with it being the release update and if they are decent devs it wont be the final update for good as with most games there will be post release updates.
with that said.... they have a lot to do to get a positive review from me and if the boxing itself does not drastically change it will be officially a fail from me. BUT i think this update is a fairly respectable one for how its building a game into it finally, there is reason to play now.
but then, im not having the issues a lot of people are, its just booted up and worked for a couple hours now, i dare not close it actually lol.
It is the final content update though. So a lot of people think that current issues we don't like mechanically are 100% moving forward. And honestly, at this point in EA, we all would think they would be putting out the stuff that we are still waiting for like:
1. Ref
2. Diverse commentary during the fights
3. Actual corner talk
4. More animations for the fighters that are unique and overall more knockdown and get up animations
5. Celebrations in the ring
6. Ring card girls, etc
Most of that stuff SHOULD come with the 1.0 release but it isn't coming prior to that. So now to release is all up to trusting the devs will get this stuff accomplished. I really think though they are gonna push forward with a Q2 to Q3 release at the latest for consoles. I don't know how they can justify more than 40 bucks for this game so it could sit at this price for release on console. But they want to get that money and then just start making a sequel. They grew to a studio of over 70 people currently and have a lot of money sunk into the game and licensing. Early access didn't really change much if anyone is being honest and it's likely because of the initial sunk costs and early access money that had them focus on expansion and paying bills more than iterating development.
The game is pretty much done and has been. I am not even being critical of it because it's been this way for a long time. But a lot of people are gonna come back to the game right now and if they think it's got a lot of time left for change they will be better to learn from what we did this past year. It won't.
They have been reworking the punch mechanic since forever and only made it slower.
What make you think they will really make it better? I wish they would but there's no trust!
because your post was made ''post'' update... suggesting you had an issue with the update specifically, hence the question ''whats the issue''.
the reason i asked is because i think the update itself was a reasonable one... even if it does not address the issues we all have with the boxing itself, hence why in general i agree with you as will be no surprise to you by now but i think the update was a good step forward for the game overall.
for the most part believe me i agree... i dont have a positive outlook on this game as it stands, i have lots of issues with it, most of all that being its just not very fun in the ring, its bloody awful actually and feels horrible to play its so sloppy. All of that stuff you mentioned is honestly stuff i agree with ofcourse but things i could live without... i don't much care if there is a ref in the ring for example or even commentary because sports game commentary will never hit it off and never has, its always out of sync or just makes no sense and that would never improve because they would never record enough lines for it to be good.
So like yeh... i think what they have done is more crucial to the games success actually, having a respectable career mode was critical and i think they have done a pretty good job with it from what ive played, ive experienced injuries, the balancing of training and rest is good, the progression seems respectably deep etc, so if that's the work they have done im pretty happy with it but for the game to be a success the bulk of the work that needs doing now is in the ring, it needs a drastic speed up, stamina needs a serious looking at, it should not even be a factor in the fight for at least 4 rounds, there isnt a pro fighter on the planet that will gas out in round 2 after throwing 5 punches so its just miles off and i think they are trying to find a balance for multiplayer and it ruins the single player. jabs are slow and hitting the guard is completely unrealistic, hooks are agonisingly slow, uppercuts are pathetic, you cant cancel a throw so you often throw a second hook you dont want and my gran could throw it faster, there needs to be a much faster return to the normal stance, no boxer throws a punch and just hangs it out there if they hit guard.
ah man i could go on forever, there are so many problems with the in ring but its all for nothing because it does seem like they just are not listening, they are giving up on the game and its quite sad to see, but at least if they are going to quit on it they will finish it off somewhat.
