If that's not fix any update will just make the game worse!
The last roundtable hinted at a game engine conversion so I guess next update may be a clean re installation as the game will most probably be running on Unreal Engine (5.O?).
That is a good news, right?
No it's just the newest or newer version of Unity Engine. I don't personally see what all the excitement is but hopefully they will have the opportunity of using some extra "tools" to reowork some of the long-standing problems with the game. I do expect the update to come out this week. Tomorrow or Thursday most likely. Sadly they confirmed in that roundtable they will not have made the pass over the graphics nor implemented the networking solution yet for online in this update. They really leaned into the "We fixed online for about 50% of the players" with the other half reporting issues. However that's pure BS as every match is the same host advantage alternating rounds with only a few matches against very low level players able to get early knockouts due to skill discrepancy.
- regional restrictions (US vs Europe will already be too laggy). If this is the case, I will probably be the only Asian player and will have no one else to play with online.
- proper rollback netcode (This is just a bandaid solution really. It only gives an illusion of perfect connection and can never actually perfectly replicate offline lagfree gameplay experience.)
- anti cheat (no real solution. Even EA announces that UFC5 will be console exclusive. Why? Because PC gaming community are spineless coward cheaters is why; and whatever safeguards against cheating there will be, players will just simply find ways around them.)
If it was up to me, they simply abandon official online mode (like Hellish Quart). They just focus on the offline gameplay and make this an official entry to EVO where the best players in the world congregate and compete at the highest level.
I wish they had the desire and understanding of the game currently to develop it for evo. I have asked about simulation blocking and ways to use that for punish and parry options but they said they don't plan on doing anything more for it. I just don't see a skill ceiling enough for this game. I feel this game has very little depth even though I do think it's solid like you do outside of the online issues and whatnot. But I just think it's a good punching game and not a good boxing game that rewards proper punching and I do think there are very easy fixes for that. They rejected my idea to have punches to be progressive in damage based on what is thrown like a double jab straight. As it is currently a straight then double jab would be rewarded the same despite that not being how anyone would punch. It would also fix the complaints of spammers off that suggestion alone I think. Then with simulation blocking it makes anticipating the wrong way to block costly but if you anticipate correctly it should open up a powerful counter window sightly different than what's currently implemented.
I feel like these two suggestions would go very far in developing the game proper and I don't see it being a lofty goal either but I am not a developer. It just seems logical to me though.
Well, Bloody Knuckles is on the way; however, that game may also have its own sets of issues as well; and I highly doubt it can offer any online experience that is able to satisfy the expectations of this unimpressionable community.
SCI should hire that developer. He would bring so much insight I feel. I agree undisputed is gonna be in its own lane which is why I’m so passionate about them trying to fix it. But I’m all advocated out lol. I think the game is good overall when played through steam remote or parsec so I know it will be OK. Just may not be great most likely. A good first effort I suppose.
